Job description

When most people think of Make-A-Day, they picture our team out in the community connecting neighbors with various supports, and the unmistakable energy of care, connection, and community.

But behind every joyful guest experience is an infrastructure that makes it all possible; fundraising systems, donor tracking, data reporting, and long-term planning that ensure this work can grow and last.

Much of that behind‑the‑scenes magic has been made possible by past AmeriCorps VISTA members.

Over the years, Make‑A-Day has been fortunate to host incredible VISTA members who dedicate a full year of service to strengthening the internal capacity of our organization and helping build systems that allow our impact to expand.

Now, we’re looking for the next dynamic individual to join that work.

The Role

The Evaluation & Outcomes VISTA member will focus on building and refining the systems that help Make‑A‑Day Foundation understand and strengthen its impact. During their term, the VISTA member will rebuild donor tracking and stewardship systems, develop consistent outcome tracking across programs, and integrate data from outreach, fundraising, and reporting tools. The VISTA member will work behind the scenes to organize data, develop basic reports and dashboards, and document processes so staff can continue using these systems long after the service term ends. This role is ideal for someone interested in data analysis, evaluation, nonprofit operations, or systems change. If you are passionate about using data to support work addressing hunger, housing instability, and health outcomes, this may be the role for you!

The Experience for a VISTA Member

The VISTA program is just as beneficial for the member as it is for the nonprofit. VISTA members gain:

  • Real‑world nonprofit leadership experience
  • Opportunities to lead high‑impact projects
  • Professional development and networking
  • A tangible role in building solutions that support communities

By the end of the year, you’ll leave with a portfolio of meaningful work, hands‑on experience in data analytics, nonprofit strategy, and systems design, and often a deeper commitment to social impact.

Member Benefits

AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a living allowance for the duration of their service term. Upon successful completion, members choose between an education award of $7,395 (which can be used toward tuition, student loans, or approved educational programs) or a cash stipend of $1,800. Members are also eligible for noncompetitive eligibility status for federal employment for one year following service, which can be a meaningful advantage for those pursuing public sector careers.

Additional benefits include healthcare coverage, childcare assistance if eligible, and access to the VISTA Leave policy. Members may also receive relocation assistance if moving more than 50 miles to serve. During service, members are prohibited from holding outside employment without written approval, so the living allowance is designed to cover basic needs for the term.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to have you on our team.
