Job summary

Meta is seeking a Visiting Hardware Engineer in Menlo Park to diagnose and repair robots, assemble parts and support hardware maintenance. The role involves hands-on repair, 3D printing, and keeping the lab organized, with a focus on embodied agents and open science.

Responsibilities include operating slicer tools, CAD viewers, and proper post-processing of printed components, as well as collaborating with data collection teams to triage hardware issues during sessions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience repairing consumer/commercial robots or similar electromechanical devices.
• Solid understanding of robot mechanical structure, actuation, and basic electronics (motors, sensors, batteries).
• Proficiency with 3D printing workflows: preparing models, slicing, and post-processing.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair robots following established protocols; perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Operate 3D printing workflows to produce replacement parts and subassemblies.
• Support data collection by swapping out broken components and triaging hardware issues mid-session.
• Maintain inventory and documentation of spare parts and assemblies.
• Keep the hardware lab organized and safe.
