Manhattan University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. We seek dynamic teacher‑scholars committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, mentoring, and impactful research aligned with our teacher‑scholar model.

Candidates are sought in two primary areas: (1) Solid Mechanics & Mechanical Systems and (2) Thermal/Fluids Engineering.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Proven teaching experience at the university level.
• Commitment to an inclusive academic community and mentoring diverse students.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) Mechanical Engineering courses.
• Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, assignments, and examinations.
• Hold regular office hours to provide academic support and mentorship to students.
• Advise undergraduate students on course planning, academic progress, and career pathways.
• Participate in departmental and university service, including curriculum development, student outreach, and community engagement.
• Teach a standard load of 24 credits per academic year.
• Other duties as assigned.
