Job summary

Alabama A&M University invites applications for a Visiting Instructor of English in the Department of English and Modern Languages. This full-time, 9-month faculty position (Fall 2026 – Spring 2027) will involve teaching, online course instruction, and site-based delivery across mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

The successful candidate will teach a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, engage in research, and participate in departmental activities, recruitment, and advising English majors.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Fine Arts – Writing.
• Master's degree in Secondary Education with 18 semester hours in English/Language Arts.
• Graduate certificate in Online Teaching and Learning.
• Familiarity with innovative teaching techniques and pedagogy is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach first year composition courses (Composition 101 and 102) in the English and General Education Program primarily.
• Actively participate and lead in department, college, and university activities including recruitment and new course development (site-based and online certifications).
• Engage in research, scholarly activities, recruitment and advising English majors.
• Schedule and attend a minimum of 10 hours of office hours per week.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Department of English and Modern Languages in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavioral Sciences seeks a highly motivated scholar-practitioner to serve as a Visiting Instructor of English. The applicant should possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position (Fall 2026 – Spring 2027). The successful candidate will meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated site-based locations and online courses (mornings, afternoons, & evenings), and teach a minimum of 12 credit hours per academic semester.
