Job Description Summary

The Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering (CSE) at Miami University invites applications for Visiting Faculty to teach CSE 148: Business Computing on a per course basis during the 2026-2027 Fall semester. Course assignments are made each semester, and all sections of CSE 148 are taught in person only. Appointment begins August 2026.

Job Description

CSE148 provides students with a solid foundation in practical business technology skills, including modeling, data visualization, introductory generative AI tools, and core concepts in information technology. Instruction emphasizes hands‑on learning with spreadsheets, data visualization, and AI‑supported content creation, helping students analyze data, solve business problems, and communicate insights effectively. Students also explore how technology and data shape organizational decision‑making and business processes. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality, engaging instruction that supports student skill development and fosters a positive, inclusive learning environment for undergraduate learners.

Each semester, the department offers 25 to 30 sections of the Business Computing course, which is taken primarily by students enrolled in degree programs within the Farmer School of Business.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a closely related field AND a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years of significant professional experience working with the relevant application(s) in a professional environment, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Consideration may be given to candidates with prior teaching experience in business, computing, or related areas.
