Job summary

Bucknell University’s Theatre and Dance Department seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre & Dance – Costume Design for a five-month sabbatical replacement in spring 2026–27. The position involves teaching and designing costumes for an undergraduate program with a strong production history.

Responsibilities include designing costumes for a dance concert, coordinating costumes for a theatre showcase, collaborating with costume staff, and teaching Costume Design plus a Special Topics

Qualifications

• MFA in Costume Design or terminal degree with substantial costume design experience.
• Prior teaching experience at the college level.
• Experience in dance costume design is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design costumes for one dance concert that includes seven dances of different styles from guest, faculty, and student choreographers.
• Coordinate costumes for one theatre showcase production with assistance from the costume studio.
• Collaborate with costume staff, including the studio manager and assistant costumer.
• Teach a Costume Design course and a Special Topics course in the candidate’s area of specialization.
