Position Summary
The Department of Biology at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor position that will begin August 10, 2025. We seek an individual with expertise in molecular and cellular biology who can teach undergraduate upper-level courses in molecular cell biology or molecular genetics and related courses. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective and engaged teacher and will have a 3-3 teaching load, with two sections of the same mid-size upper division lecture course each semester plus a small undergraduate seminar course, non-majors course, or lab section as the third course. There is no expectation of research scholarship associated with this position. However, the successful applicant will be expected to teach the course reflecting the current state of knowledge and recent developments in the field.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology or a closely related field is required at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2025). Previous teaching experience or activity at the undergraduate level is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience teaching relevant undergraduate courses and postdoctoral research experience are preferred. Ideal candidates will possess the skill and organization to teach engaging courses in both lecture and seminar-style formats, or to run a teaching laboratory.
