The Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History at Oklahoma State University seeksapplications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Sculpture & 3D Foundations for the2025–2026 academic year, beginning in August 2025. The teaching assignment will include alllevels of sculpture, as well as 3D foundations. This position is non-renewable, contingent upon theavailability of funding, and sponsorship for a work visa is not available.We seek an artist who demonstrates strong teaching skills and a commitment to sculpture asevidenced in student and professional work. Candidates should be forward-looking educators whobridge technical and conceptual priorities in their teaching. Additionally, we strive for a well rounded candidate with a background in a broad range of technical and formal processes, capableof teaching both traditional and contemporary approaches to sculpture. At all curricula levels,candidates will have a deep commitment to contextualizing student projects within the broaderhistory of art, sculpture, and related media through regular readings, discussions, and studentwriting.Our studio art offerings are hands-on and fully in-person courses that meet twice per week fornearly 3 hours per session. The sculpture studio is well-equipped with a full woodshop, metalfabrication shop, and foundry. Equipment and facilities include a CNC Plasma cutter, laser cutter,3D printers, 3 large Mac computer labs, and a staffed Visual Resources Center. Applicants withexperience using 3D software, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are preferred. Additional aspects ofthe position include training students on the equipment, enforcing safety protocols, assisting inmaintaining studio facilities and equipment, purchasing supplies, managing the program budget,and supervising student studio monitors.
Core Duties:
• The teaching load for this position is 4-4, including all levels of sculpture and 3D foundations.
• Maintenance and oversight of sculpture facilities and equipment, supplies, and program budget
• Supervising student studio monitors
• Participation in regular Studio Area and Foundations meetings
• Some departmental service
Required Qualifications:
• MFA in sculpture or a closely related field
• Teaching experience in higher education
• An active and strong exhibition record
