Job Description Summary
The Wake Forest University Department of Music seeks a dynamic teacher and scholar for a one-year position in music composition, technology, and/or theory, beginning July 1, 2025. The department has recently adopted a revised curriculum designed to engage students with diverse musical thought and practice, transcend disciplinary boundaries, increase access to music courses and programming, and support students' professional and personal development. We especially welcome applications from candidates interested in contributing to this vision.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Composition, Music Technology, and Music Theory I, along with courses relevant to their expertise, including Introduction to Modern Popular Music, Introduction to Western Music, Introduction to Jazz, and upper-level undergraduate music theory electives. The teaching load is three courses per semester.
The ideal applicant will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary work and diversity and inclusion through teaching, publishing, performance, and service; this should be addressed in the cover letter. Evidence of successful undergraduate teaching as instructor of record is required.
