Job summary

Alabaster City Schools is seeking a Middle School Principal to serve as the instructional and administrative leader of the school, working with staff, students, and the community to ensure a high-quality educational program and a positive school culture.

The candidate will provide leadership in implementing the school improvement plan, manage budgets and safety, and coordinate student services to support achievement.

Qualifications

• Alabama Certification in Educational Leadership or Administration and Supervision.
• Administrative experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, manage, and administer the instructional program.
• Establish and administer short and long range instructional and facility goals and needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge and practice of current educational trends, research, and technology.
• Establish a vision and mission for the school in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Provide leadership in the school improvement process and implementation of the plan.
• Read, interpret, and enforce state board rules, policies, and statutes.
• Interview and select qualified personnel for employment.
• Supervise personnel, conduct performance appraisals, and make hiring recommendations.
• Assign and supervise special tasks and assignments to staff.
• Manage personnel development through training and in-service activities.
• Participate in system-wide management meetings and professional development.
• Coordinate plant safety and facility inspections at the school.
• Provide a School Safety Plan for emergencies on campus.
• Manage the school budget and internal accounts.
• Adhere to statutes and policies related to accounting and funds management.
• Supervise the movement and safety of transportation services on school grounds.
• Establish guidelines for student conduct and disciplinary procedures.
• Establish and manage student accounting and attendance procedures.
• Supervise the guidance program to meet student needs.
• Coordinate and manage extra- and co-curricular programs.
• Develop positive school/community relations and act as liaison.
• Recruit business partners to benefit the school and community.
• Communicate policies and program changes to staff through meetings and notes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
