Job summary

Oblong Children’s Christian Home is seeking an Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and vision for our Christ-centered children’s ministry. You will supervise staff, work with the Board of Directors, manage finances, ensure licensing standards, and expand programs to serve more youth with faith-based care.

The role requires a mature Christian leader with advanced degrees in social work or human services and at least 3–5 years in administration.

Qualifications

• Shall be a mature Christian with a Biblical lifestyle who continues to grow in his or her walk with the Lord.
• Shall have an advanced college degree (Master’s level) from an accredited school of social work or a human services degree (Master’s level) from an accredited school in a human service field.
• Shall have at least three (3) to five (5) years (depending on academic degree) of experience, specifically in social work administration or human services administration.
• Shall be able to work cooperatively with the Board of Directors and staff, showing good leadership skills, yet the humility that is demonstrated by relying on God and by the ability to accept input from the board and staff.
• Shall have good conflict management skills, necessary skills for leading and supervising staff, and growth, and expanding the Home’s mission.
• Shall have good financial management skills as demonstrated in managing his or her personal finances and that of the ministry.
• Shall have good public speaking and interpersonal skills.
• Shall have adequate/good writing skills.
• Shall have adequate/good technology skills.
• Shall have a heart for kids and their families, as well as for staff.
• The Executive Director shall hold the Biblical view that the salvation process includes faith, repentance, confession, and baptism by immersion; once hired, the candidate must attend a local Christian Church or Church of Christ.
• Shall meet State standards for background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision for the ministry under the supervision of the Board of Directors, guiding growth and Kingdom impact.
• Be a servant leader who encourages staff, remains available for crises, and leads meetings with teams.
• Oversee the budget preparation for all ministry aspects and approve expenditures over $500.
• Set organizational precedent to be ministry-focused and maximize resources for children in care.
• Coordinate staff work and develop procedures, ensuring alignment with Rules and Regulations.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff, including houseparents, counselors, and administrators.
• Oversee education of children in care and ensure CPR and safety trainings are provided.
• Oversee childcare, licensing compliance, and therapeutic program elements.
• Oversee campus maintenance, childcare quality, fundraising and board facilitation.
