Job summary

Fairmont State University seeks a Dean of the College of Business and Aviation (COBA) to lead the college’s academic programs, budgeting, and strategic initiatives. The Dean will guide faculty through transformative teaching, research, and service, with a focus on accreditation readiness and student success.

Qualifications

• Progressively responsible academic leadership experience, preferably at department chair or higher.
• A distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service that merits a tenured appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.
• Experience with online course development and distance education.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and accountability for COBA aligned with the Academic Implementation Plan and the University’s Vision 2025-2035.
• Administer the College’s academic programs, supervise staff, manage resources, and support student recruitment and retention.
• Strengthen assessment and accreditation readiness (ACBSP, AACSB) and ensure program outcomes meet standards.
• Grow enrollment and advance student success through partnerships and innovative programs.
• Advance external engagement, development, alumni relations, and grant-seeking to uplift COBA’s reputation.
• Recruit, develop, and retain outstanding faculty and staff, fostering collaboration across COBA.
