Job summary

The academic dean of Languages, Arts and Social Sciences (LASS) at NOVA’s Woodbridge Campus provides academic and administrative leadership for the division, guiding faculty and staff to advance student learning, retention and completion across transfer, workforce and general education pathways.

The role requires collaboration with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and external partners, strategic budgeting, and program review to ensure innovative, student-centered offerings aligned with NOVA’s

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a discipline represented within the Languages, Arts and Social Sciences division.
• Full-time faculty teaching experience at a postsecondary institution.
• Administrative experience at a postsecondary institution.
• Terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline represented within the Languages, Arts and Social Sciences division.
• Three or more years of full-time teaching experience at a two‑year postsecondary institution.
• Five or more years of administrative experience at a postsecondary institution.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership for assigned academic disciplines, programs and pathways.
• Leads program and discipline reviews and collaborates with faculty to implement curriculum changes.
• Promotes innovation and academic growth aligned with the college's mission and priorities.
• Leads and participates in discipline and pathway meetings and monitors progress on goals.
• Oversees or supports budgeting, scheduling and resource management within the division.

Education

Master's degree in a discipline represented within the Languages, Arts and Social Sciences division
