Job summary

The Simplot Company is seeking a skilled technician to operate and monitor the Automatic Defect Removal System at the GF Plant in Grand Forks. The role focuses on maintaining sanitation, efficiency, and defect control across vision systems and related equipment.

You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, document shift events, and ensure adherence to safety policies and SOPs. Excellent attendance and a strong safety record are essential.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must have completed the Job Skill Evaluation successfully.
• Must be able to demonstrate arithmetic and percentages to make proper adjustment as required.
• Must have an acceptable safety record.
• Must have an acceptable attendance record.
• Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor vision systems to achieve optimum defect efficiency.
• Follow safe work practices and SOPs to prevent injuries.
• Attend training and apply new skills.
• Ensure sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of the facility.
• Comply with company policies and collective bargaining agreement.
• Provide skilled troubleshooting, repair and support on the vision systems and supporting equipment.
• Inspect components of the vision systems and perform preventative maintenance procedures.
• Document, monitor, maintain, and assist with reporting of shift events.
• Replace and repair belts and other routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Install fittings and repairs high pressure hoses, guns and sanitation equipment.
• Record efficiency/waste sampling.

Summary

This job ensures the Automatic Defect Removal System operates at maximum efficiency and maintains both sanitation and production at optimum levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors all sorting vision systems (to include ADR Sorting equipment, Whole Potato Sorters, and Optix-LDA) to achieve optimum defect efficiency.
• Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies.
• Attend and participate in all training activities for the position. Ensure the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.
• Ensure sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of the entire facility.
• Ensure self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Provides skilled troubleshooting, repair and support on the vision systems and supporting equipment including mechanical and plumbing, electrical, and electronic aspects.
• Must be able to inspect components of the vision systems and perform the preventative maintenance procedures.
• Ensure proper food safety, sanitation and cleaning procedures of the vision systems.
• Must be able to document, monitor, maintain, and assist with reporting of shift events.
• Replaces and repairs belts as well as other routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Installs fittings and repairs high pressure hoses, guns and any other sanitation equipment.
• Performs and records all efficiency/waste sampling.

Typical Education

High School graduate or equivalent

Relevant Experience

• Must have completed the Job Skill Evaluation successfully
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, divisions and calculate percentages to make proper adjustment as required

Rate of Pay: $26.24/hr.
