Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a Vision System Intern in the Environmental Technologies division. The role focuses on design, prototyping, testing, and deployment of computer vision systems to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality.

You will prototype vision solutions and work with senior engineers to transition technologies to pilot lines and manufacturing. The program offers hands-on experience with high-tech materials, competitive salaries, housing assistance, and travel reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Robotics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• 0–1 years of experience through coursework, labs, projects, or internships in robotics or automation.
• Proficiency in Python or C# (strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to engineering projects developing vision systems for inspection, defect detection, and measurement.
• Develop, train, and evaluate models for object detection and segmentation using Halcon and deep learning frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Set up and calibrate cameras and sensors for reliable data capture.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across hardware and software during development and deployment.
• Support on-floor trials, data collection, and performance assessments to drive iterative improvements.
• Document technical processes, system requirements, test plans, and project progress for internal stakeholders.
