Job summary

The Blind Rehabilitation Specialist--Living Skills position at the VA is located within the GCBRC, delivering training in blind and vision rehabilitation for visually impaired Veterans and service members to improve independence and reintegration.

Applicants must meet basic requirements, including a vision rehabilitation-related bachelor’s degree and ACVREP certification, with KSAs covering evaluation, plan development, patient instruction, and team coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in blind/vision rehabilitation or related program.
• Certification from ACVREP or equivalent required at GS-11.
• Experience with evaluation and planning in vision rehabilitation.
• Knowledge of prosthetic devices and rehabilitation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop and write rehabilitation plans from assessments.
• Coordinate treatment with a multidisciplinary team.
• Instruct Veterans and families in rehabilitation techniques.
• Recommend appropriate blind/vision rehabilitation devices.
