Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a research engineer/scientist to advance vision-centric LLMs within the Pinterest Labs group, focusing on multimodal models and production-scale generative capabilities. You will join a core visual pod of engineers and a prototyping team, read papers, evaluate architectures, collect visual data, and publish results.

The role offers hybrid in-office collaboration 1-2 times per quarter and nationwide eligibility for relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industry computer vision experience.
• Experience with generative computer vision models.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants and developer tools.

Responsibilities

• Prototype new model architectures for Pinterest VLMs and fine-tune open-source LLMs to improve visual perception and tool usage.
• Develop evaluation benchmarks for vision-centric capabilities (e.g., fashion style recommendations).
• Read research papers, discuss approaches with the team, and shape Pinterest's visual generative strategy.
