Job summary

Pinterest is seeking researchers and engineers to advance visual AI for our platform. You will train and refine large-scale vision models, develop multimodal representations, and contribute to production deployments that power visualization and search capabilities.

You will collaborate across a distributed team, publish findings at conferences, mentor others, and help shape Pinterest's AI strategy. US-based applicants only.

Qualifications

• Experience building and training large-scale vision models.
• Strong background in multimodal representations and visual language modeling.
• Track record of research contributions (publications, open-source) or shipping ML models to production.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch and large-scale model training.
• Excellent collaboration skills in a small, fast-moving team.
• MS or PhD in ML or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience using AI-accelerated research tooling such as data agents.

Responsibilities

• Build state-of-the-art visual encoders, VLMs, and diffusion models for Pinterest's visual AI capabilities.
• Experiment with billion-scale image datasets using large-scale GPU computing.
• Develop flexible visual reasoning tools like image retrieval and embedding/editing models.
• Read research papers and contribute to Pinterest's AI strategy.
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to ship capabilities.
• Publish and share work through CVPR, KDD, papers, and blogs.
• Mentor junior researchers and interns within Pinterest Labs.
• Collaborate across teams in San Francisco, Seattle, NYC, and remote roles.
