Job summary

Amergis Educational Staffing Santa Maria, CA is seeking a full-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired. The position serves students in a itinerant capacity with a caseload up to 18, ages infant through 22, across North County and Santa Ynez Valley, based from Farnel Santa Maria SBCEO office.

Salary ranges from $70 to $75 per hour. Start immediately; end date June 2027 or end of school year. Work week is 40 hours, 7:30am-4:30pm, with local travel compensation possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations.
• One year experience as a teacher for the visually impaired preferred.
• Current CPR if applicable.
• TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• The Teacher for the Visually Impaired provides students with learning experiences and activities designed to help them in social, intellectual, and emotional growth.
• The Teacher for the Visually Impaired organizes and implements an instructional program for visually impaired students.
• Enables students to develop competencies and skills to function in a successful and positive manner.
