Job summary

Walworth County seeks a Vision Impairment (VI) Teacher to provide diagnostic, consultative, prescriptive and instructional services for children with visual impairments. The goal is to enable VI students to access school and community environments effectively.

The role involves evaluating students, developing IEPs, coordinating services with families, and ensuring appropriate materials and assistive technology are available. Some supervision of paraprofessionals may occur.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and zero to six months of prior relevant experience.
  • Must be eligible for a Wisconsin Teaching License #1825 – Visually Impaired.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students suspected of VI needs as part of the IEP team.
  • Develop and review Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for VI students.
  • Provide instructional services and collaborate with classroom teachers and parents.
  • Procure and adapt materials, including braille and assistive tech, to meet VI student needs.
  • Case manage VI students and assist with state/federal reporting.
