Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Vision Engineer to provide technical and compliance support for pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging operations. The role leads vision/automation projects across multiple site locations, delivering timely, professional, and safe support.

The candidate will ensure cGMP compliance, participate in change management, and collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, IT, and scheduling to implement improvements and resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience troubleshooting vision systems and industrial automation.
  • Strong understanding of FDA regulations and cGMP practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support equipment purchases and modifications to improve productivity.
  • Ensure FDA cGMP compliance across design, specification, qualification, validation, maintenance, and use of equipment systems.
  • Complete capital/expense projects within agreed timelines, scope, and budget; manage and track project costs.
  • Participate in change management to assess impacts on validation status of control systems.
  • Support quality initiatives via CAPA and implement new technology to resolve issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production processes, focusing on detection and downtime reduction.
  • Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, operations, IT, and scheduling to implement changes and resolve issues.
  • Respond to emergencies and troubleshoot machine performance/efficiency.
  • Design and implement features/technologies to enhance operability, efficiency, safety, quality, and data tracking.
  • Provide strategic plans to upgrade aging/obsolete systems.
  • Review new equipment technical specifications to ensure automation hardware/software align with standards.

Job description

The Vision Engineer provides technical and compliance support to pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging operations using vision systems, leading vision/automation projects across multiple site locations while delivering timely, professional, and safe support.

Scope of the Role
  • Support equipment purchases and modifications to improve productivity or enable new formulations/products.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA cGMP regulations across design, specification, qualification, validation, maintenance, and use of equipment systems.

Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years troubleshooting and working with vision systems.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; ability to read drawings/flowcharts/schematics for system design documentation.
  • Experience with computer system validation and change management in an FDA-regulated environment.
  • Experience/familiarity with cGMP.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and deadline management in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with multiple departments, consultants, and contractors.
Preferred
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge and continuous improvement experience.
  • Prior electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.
