Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 1+ year of strong customer service skills (internal/external).
• Strong communicator and listener.
• Problem solving ability.
• Organization skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to assess priorities, address multiple tasks and deadlines in fast-paced environment.
• Ability to use exam software, point-of-sale technology and ophthalmic equipment.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Knowledge of office environment.
• Strong basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs preliminary evaluations including but not limited to obtaining accurate and detailed patient histories, reviewing medication lists carefully, visual acuities, motility evaluations, pupil and angle assessments, refraction, pachymetry, applanation tonometry, and pupil dilation.
• Performs special testing including but not limited to OCTs, biometry, topography, and retinal imaging/photography.
• Pre-examination testing with accuracy and explanation to patients.
• Identifies dissatisfied patients and acts quickly for resolution.
• Maintains organized patient records in line with HIPAA.
• Manages appointment book/scheduling and computer procedures.
• Maintains safe environment for team and patients.
• Adapts to examination scenarios and is personable with patients and staff.
• Maintains equipment and lanes disinfected.
• Works weekends/evenings as needed.
• Adheres to attendance and timekeeping and company policies.
• Fulfills responsibilities assigned by lead technician or ophthalmologist.
