Job summary

Viridien is seeking a Virtualization Systems Specialist to operate and advance its global virtualization platforms. You will manage Nutanix-based environments, provisioning VMs, monitoring performance, and coordinating with cross-functional teams across locations including Houston.

Responsibilities

With our ingenuity, drive and deep curiosity we discover new insights, innovations, and solutions that efficiently and responsibly resolve complex natural resource, digital, energy transition and infrastructure challenges.Job Details**Job Summary:**The **Virtualization Systems Specialist** is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, support, and continual improvement of the organization's global virtualization platforms.Working as part of a geographically distributed team, the role supports both Corporate and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments, ensuring the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable virtual infrastructure that underpins critical business services worldwide.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional seeking a technically focused role with exposure to large-scale enterprise virtualization technologies and global operations.**Key Responsibilities:*** **Platform Operations**+ Administer and support enterprise virtualization platforms, with a primary focus on Nutanix HCI.+ Provision, configure, maintain, and decommission virtual machines in accordance with established standards.+ Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues.+ Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching activities across virtualization environments.* **Infrastructure Support**+ Troubleshoot and resolve virtualization-related incidents and service requests.+ Assist with root cause analysis activities and contribute to corrective and preventative actions.+ Work closely with server, storage, networking, security, and application teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.+ Support business-critical environments to ensure availability and performance targets are maintained.* **Platform Improvement**+ Contribute to infrastructure projects, platform upgrades, and technology refresh initiatives.+ Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, automation, and operational processes.+ Assist in testing and validating new technologies, features, and platform enhancements.+ Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.* **Security & Compliance**+ Ensure virtualization environments comply with company security standards and operational policies.+ Support vulnerability remediation, audit activities, and compliance initiatives.+ Follow established change management and operational governance processes.+ Maintain accurate records of platform changes and configurations.* **Backup & Disaster Recovery**+ Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions protecting virtualized workloads.+ Participate in recovery testing and resilience exercises.+ Assist in validating platform recoverability and business continuity capabilities.**Scope & Impact:*** Supports enterprise and HPC virtualization environments consisting of thousands of virtual machines deployed globally.* Contributes to the stability, availability, performance, and security of core infrastructure platforms.* Works closely with global IT teams to deliver reliable services supporting business operations worldwide.* Provides technical expertise and operational support across virtualization technologies and associated infrastructure.**Skills & Experience:****Essential:*** Strong hands-on experience administering Nutanix HCI environments.* Experience supporting enterprise-scale virtualization platforms.* Experience troubleshooting virtualization, performance, storage, and infrastructure-related issues.* Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability concepts.* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.* Excellent communication and documentation skills.* Ability to work effectively within a geographically distributed team.**Desirable:*** Nutanix certifications such as NCA (Nutanix Certified Associate) or NCP (Nutanix Certified Professional).* Experience with Hyper-V and/or Open-Source virtualization technologies.* Good understanding of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.* Experience working within ITIL-based operational support environments.* Experience supporting High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure environments.* Familiarity with monitoring, capacity management, and infrastructure reporting tools.**Qualifications and Experience:*** Bachelor's Degree (BSc) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline;
