Job summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) supports the U.S. Air Force AEDC at Arnold Air Force Base, TN, as a Virtualization Administrator. The role focuses on design, administration, sustainment, and maintenance of enterprise virtualization and VDI infrastructure for test operations.

The position requires U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance. Open to internal/external candidates with occasional after-hours work for upgrades or maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field with at least 5 years of relevant IT experience.
• Or 9 years of relevant IT experience in lieu of degree.
• U.S. Citizenship is required due to Air Force security requirements.
• Must obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC LAN.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize VMware virtual infrastructure and Omnissa Horizon VDI environments.
• Perform routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, capacity management, and lifecycle activities for virtualization and supporting infrastructure.
• Develop, maintain, test, and deploy golden images for VDI workloads; coordinate OS and application updates and patching.
• Administer backup tools (Veeam) for virtual infrastructure; monitor backups, restoration, retention, and disaster-recovery activities.
• Coordinate with server, storage, network, cybersecurity teams to resolve virtualization-related issues; support AD, DNS, DHCP as needed.
• Configure and maintain STIG-compliant systems; support vulnerability remediation and documentation.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell/PowerCLI automation; monitor health and maintain SOPs and diagrams.
• Provide technical support to AEDC customers and on-call during planned maintenance or critical issues.

Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Virtualization Administrator supporting TOS II at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a Virtualization Administrator, you will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for the design, administration, sustainment, and maintenance of enterprise virtualization and virtual desktop infrastructure supporting United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition may be required to occasionally (e.g. application upgrades) work outside normal business hours.

Job Summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.

AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

BNH currently has an exciting career opportunity available for Virtualization Administrator to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.

Job Duties

• Virtualization and VDI Administration: Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize VMware virtual infrastructure and the Omnissa virtual desktop infrastructure environment, including vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, clusters, virtual machines, desktop pools, templates, user entitlements, and associated management components.
• Platform Sustainment and Lifecycle Management: Perform routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, capacity management, performance tuning, and lifecycle activities for virtualization, VDI, and supporting infrastructure. Support additional virtual desktop or application-delivery technologies, as mission requirements evolve.
• Desktop Image and Application Management: Develop, maintain, test, and deploy golden images for virtual desktop and virtualized workloads. Coordinate operating system updates, application updates, security patches, configuration changes, and release validation.
• Backup, Recovery, and Continuity: Administer and support Veeam Backup & Replication or equivalent approved backup tools for virtual infrastructure and workloads. Perform backup monitoring, restoration, retention management, recovery validation, and disaster-recovery support activities.
• Infrastructure Integration and Troubleshooting: Coordinate with server, storage, network, cybersecurity, and application teams to configure and resolve issues involving virtualization-related storage, networking, authentication, certificates, firewall rules, and guest operating systems. Provide supporting administration for Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP as required to sustain virtual infrastructure and VDI services.
• Security and Compliance: Configure and maintain systems in accordance with applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), DoW security policies, approved configuration baselines, and access-control requirements. Support vulnerability remediation, patch compliance, and documentation in coordination with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and other stakeholders.
• Automation, Monitoring, and Documentation: Develop and maintain PowerShell, PowerCLI, or other approved automation scripts; monitor infrastructure health, availability, performance, and capacity; and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP), technical documentation, configuration records, recovery procedures, and system diagrams.
• Customer and Operational Support: Provide technical support to AEDC customers, contractors, and end users; collaborate with integrated technical teams to implement service improvements; maintain availability outside normal business hours for planned maintenance or critical infrastructure issues as required; and perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• In lieu of bachelor’s degree, 9 years of relevant IT experience may be substituted.
• Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience administering VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter Server, ESXi, vMotion, High Availability, Distributed Resource Scheduler, Lifecycle Manager, templates, and distributed virtual switching.
• Experience administering Omnissa Horizon or comparable production virtual desktop infrastructure environments, including desktop pools, golden images, user entitlements, profile management, application delivery, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience administering Veeam Backup & Replication or comparable enterprise backup and recovery tools, including backup configuration, restores, replication, retention, recovery validation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting or administering Red Hat OpenShift environments, including virtual infrastructure integration, cluster resource considerations, networking, storage, and platform troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting NetApp enterprise storage, networking, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and monitoring tools in a virtualized environment.
• Experience with STIG implementation, vulnerability remediation, security hardening, configuration compliance, PowerShell/PowerCLI automation, and disaster-recovery planning or testing.
• Relevant VMware, Omnissa, Citrix, Microsoft, Veeam, or infrastructure certifications, such as VMware Certified Professional—Data Center Virtualization or equivalent.
• Experience supporting high-availability, mission-critical, or geographically distributed infrastructure environments.
