Job Title: Therapist

Summary:
The primary goal of the Therapist is to help individuals struggling with interpersonal and relationship issues. The role involves developing a humanistic and empathetic relationship with clients to foster trust and growth, especially during personal, family, and social crises. Therapists must demonstrate mastery of their scope of practice, as evidenced by performance evaluations based on direct client services and documentation skills, including:
- Substance abuse and relapse management
- Coping with difficult life changes
- Developing and maintaining intimate relationships
- Rebuilding relationships
- Family conflicts
- Loneliness, depression, PTSD, or anxiety
- Grief and loss
- Understanding process/behavior addiction
- Self-esteem issues
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete all client process duties and documentation within specified timelines
- Attend weekly supervision sessions if required for licensure hours
- Participate in monthly peer group supervision
- Attend weekly clinical meetings and ongoing educational training on documentation and medical necessity, including mastery of ASAM criteria
- Maintain daily contact during workdays and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings for continuity of care
- Document all clinical interactions thoroughly, including biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, session notes, and discharge plans
- Possess basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHR systems
- Undergo regular chart audits to ensure clinical appropriateness and timeliness
- Provide clinical updates to family or referral sources as permitted by client consent
- Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions
- Perform crisis intervention as needed
- Evaluate and report on client behavior and emotional stability to inform treatment and discharge planning
- Record all interventions and interactions in the medical record, guided by the treatment plan
- Sign and acknowledge the job description and participate in performance evaluations
- Incorporate Wellbriety curriculum and Native American healing practices into treatment when appropriate
Requirements:
- Minimum 1500 hours toward licensing, with a positive standing registration with the California BBS
- Valid license as LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or Psychologist from California BBS or BOP
- Master’s Degree or PsyD and at least two years of supervised clinical experience
- Experience in substance abuse and dual diagnosis residential treatment preferred
- Experience with CBT, trauma, eating disorders, and evidence-based practices preferred
- References attesting to clinical competence
- Ability to diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders independently
- Experience with documentation standards, including ASAM criteria
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Completion of Wellbriety training courses preferred
