Description

Program and Role Summary

Wayfinder’s Special Education School offers children and youth, ages 5 to 22, who are visually impaired or have moderate-to-severe disabilities, a safe, positive environment for learning and growth. In our state-certified, non-public school, teachers develop students’ communication, mobility, and functional skills to foster independence.

The primary focus of the Virtual Speech Language Pathologist is to provide virtual speech therapy services to children aged 5 to 21. The SLP is a vital member of the school team, responsible for assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for students with communication disorders. This includes designing and implementing evidence-based therapy plans to address speech, language, voice, fluency, and social communication difficulties, creating and monitoring IEPs, delivering direct therapy, and consulting with teachers and families to support communication needs.

This is a part-time, fully remote position, budgeted for 20 hours/week, and open to candidates anywhere in the United States with valid California licensure and certifications.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide intervention for children 5 to 21 with severe motor delays, atypical or scattered skills, atypical tone, global delays, feeding delays/disorders, or severe sensory challenges.
• Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and the education team, providing necessary documentation.
• Use various therapeutic techniques and tools, such as play-based therapy, AAC devices, and digital resources.
• Collaborate with classroom staff to embed communication goals into the curriculum.
• Utilize phone and computer software to deliver telehealth services.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• California licensure and certification (e.g., CCC-SLP from ASHA).
• At least one year of experience working with infants/children.
• Experience in multicultural settings preferred.
• Experience in educational settings preferred.
