About the Role:

The Virtual Sales Specialist - Laboratory Consumables is dedicated to driving sales of scientific products and services via telephone, email, and other digital methods to markets or customers as defined by the portfolio team. This office-based role focuses on serving customers across key market segments including academic research, clinical, food, dairy, beverage, and other industrial and applied markets. The Virtual Sales Specialist maintains effective customer relations, develops growth opportunities within existing and new customer bases, and ensures market penetration while achieving sales and profit objectives.

What You'll Do:

  • Leverage marketing programs to support sales achievement and territory penetration through proactive customer contact.
  • Meet sales targets and create growth opportunities through telesales focused on specific SSPG consumables sales programs.
  • Manage pricing within territory to optimise profitability as determined by the portfolio team.
  • Utilise sales data to improve sales efficiency and capture maximum value.
  • Continuously improve selling skills, product knowledge, industry insights, and understanding of the competitive market.
  • Monitor activity outcomes using Salesforce.com, manage a pipeline of opportunities, and support financial forecasts.
  • Participate in teamwork forums to share market trends, competitor intelligence, and customer feedback.
  • Engage in training and development programs for ongoing improvement.
  • Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific positively at all times.
  • Implement innovative approaches to enhance telemarketing outcomes and collaborate with the portfolio team on new ideas.
  • Utilise key tools and databases to identify new customers.
  • Achieve metrics for outbound calls, including new contacts and follow-up calls.

Keys to Success:

Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the sciences.

Experience: Previous work experience in a commercial environment, preferably sales.

  • Highly motivated and driven; ambitious for a successful sales career.
  • Confident in communication with customers.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Organisational skills to multi-task and meet goals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and Salesforce.com CRM.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to develop professional selling skills.
