Job summary

Fifth Third Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to manage the residential loan process from application to closing, focusing on outside referrals and cross-selling opportunities. You will develop referral networks, stay current with lending guidelines and regulations, and guide applicants through the process while maintaining excellent customer service.

The role emphasizes risk awareness, adherence to policies, and collaboration with branches to provide timely updates and reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent mandatory.
• Four-year college degree preferred.
• Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
• Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
• Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
• This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at employment.
• MU4R questions and registration information for employment in this position.

Responsibilities

• Develop referral contacts (realtors, builders, professional/personal contacts).
• Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures, loan products, processing and underwriting.
• Take applicant applications by completing Fannie Mae Form 1003.
• Transmit loan to LOMAS and access daily rates and credit reports.
• Collect documentation and deliver loan package within management time frames.
• Manage pipeline through closing and complete management reports.
• Provide updates to branches/applicants and manage expectations.
• Attend Consumer Lending meetings as required.
