Edmentum is hiring a full-time Virtual Teacher, English/Language Arts for remote instruction in Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. The position pays $45,000 to $50,000 USD per year. The teacher delivers live, on-camera instruction for at least five hours during each instructional day, works with student performance data, and maintains communication with students, families, school partners, and Edmentum colleagues.
The role requires a bachelor's degree in education or a related field and an active state teaching license with an English/Language Arts endorsement for grades 6 through 12. Virtual or classroom teaching experience, online learning platform skills, and the ability to manage a remote student caseload are part of the qualification profile. Edmentum develops online learning programs and technology for K-12 education, and its work supports schools in all 50 states and more than 100 countries through K-12 learning programs .
Applicants need the required state license, English/Language Arts endorsement, bachelor's degree, and experience with virtual or in-person instruction ready before applying. The selected state, grades 6 to 12 endorsement, online teaching experience, and availability for the daily on-camera schedule are the main points to settle first.
The teacher leads synchronous lessons on camera for at least five hours each instructional day. Live instruction requires clear explanations, active monitoring, timely responses, and consistent use of online classroom tools. The role also includes personalized teaching based on student performance data rather than a single lesson path for every learner.
Student communication extends beyond live class time. The teacher provides feedback, keeps student records, communicates with families, and collaborates with school partners and Edmentum colleagues. A remote caseload therefore includes instructional planning, progress documentation, family contact, and coordination with the adults responsible for each student's school program.
An active state teaching license with an English/Language Arts endorsement for grades 6 to 12 is required. Edmentum identifies Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and Michigan as preferred licensure states. The position accepts experience from virtual and in-person classrooms, but the daily work requires confidence with online learning platforms, virtual instruction tools, and productivity software.
A bachelor's degree in education or a related field is also required. Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills support the record keeping, family contact, lesson delivery, and caseload management that accompany the teaching assignment. Maintaining certification and pursuing professional growth remain part of the role's ongoing expectations.
Edmentum provides courseware, personalized learning, intervention, credit recovery, virtual learning, tutoring, and college and career readiness products. Its virtual learning programs include core subjects, electives, Advanced Placement, world languages, career and technical education, and NCAA-approved options. Flexible schedules and credit recovery services support students who need a different route toward graduation.
Certified virtual teachers support districts with hard-to-staff subjects and connect with students during the district's bell schedule. Edmentum's virtual programs also serve homebound or hospitalized students, college-bound athletes, and students who need tutoring, special education, or success coaching. These services place the English/Language Arts teacher inside a broader system of online instruction and school partnership, alongside other teaching roles .
Quality online teaching includes professional responsibilities, digital citizenship, engagement and belonging, learner-centered instruction, and instructional design. The online teaching standards connect those areas to practical work such as protecting learner data, supporting assistive technology, monitoring progress, building learner agency, and communicating promptly.
The Edmentum position calls for several of those practices in daily operations. Performance data informs lesson decisions, student records preserve evidence of progress, and communication with families and school partners keeps the remote classroom connected to the wider education team. The teacher also needs to maintain digital tools, protect student information, and continue professional learning while managing the instructional day.
Edmentum describes its workplace as flexible and remote first. Its careers information names medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company matching, paid time away, volunteer time away, and a winter office closure.
Employees and families can access doctors and counselors at no cost from the first day, even without enrollment in the medical plan. Faculty and corporate staff receive a time-away program, and the company lists paid parental leave, maternity management support, and 16 hours of volunteer time off.
