Job summary

QBE, LLC is seeking a VDI Administrator to design, run, and tune a secure VDI environment on-site in Key West, FL. You’ll be the expert solving complex VDI issues behind a DoD mission, from hypervisors to backups and upgrades.

The role requires 5+ years in VDI, proficiency with Horizon/ Citrix/ RDS, and strong virtualization and security knowledge. A DoD-ready candidate will thrive in this mission-critical team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on VDI administration experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field; 4 years of experience can substitute.
• Proficiency in VMware Horizon, Citrix VAD, or RDS.
• Strong virtualization concepts and hypervisor knowledge (vSphere/Hyper-V).
• Expert-level troubleshooting and security/network understanding for VDI.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the VDI infrastructure, manage VMs and desktop templates.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot VDI issues and user connectivity.
• Install, configure and maintain the hypervisor software.
• Plan capacity, manage server hardware and host pools.

Give mission users a fast, secure desktop wherever they log in. QBE is looking for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Administrator to join our team on-site in Key West, FL. You'll design, run and tune the VDI environment behind a DoD mission, from hypervisors and host pools to backups, security and upgrades, and be the expert who solves the hardest VDI problems.

What you will do

• Build the platform: Design and implement the VDI infrastructure, and configure and manage virtual machines and desktop templates.
• Keep it healthy: Monitor performance and resource usage, and troubleshoot issues with virtual desktops, applications and user connectivity.
• Own the hypervisor: Install, configure and maintain the hypervisor software.
• Plan for capacity: Manage server hardware, resource allocation and capacity planning, along with Virtual Desktop host pools and related resources.
• Shape the architecture: Architect, plan and implement desktop virtualization technology, and proactively keep the VDI infrastructure healthy, fast and available.
• Protect and recover: Run regular backups and disaster recovery procedures for VDI components, and provide expert-level support on complex incidents, finding root causes and fixing them fast.
• Tune and secure: Find performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies and tune the environment to fix them, and maintain strong security measures that protect VDI systems, virtual desktops and user data.
• Keep it current: Plan and carry out VDI updates, including software patches, security updates and system upgrades.

Requirements

What you bring

• 5 or more years of hands-on experience in a VDI administration role.
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. An additional 4 years of relevant experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Proficiency in VDI technologies, such as VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS).
• Strong understanding of virtualization concepts and hypervisor technologies like VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Expert-level troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex VDI-related issues effectively.
• Familiarity with network, storage, and security principles relevant to VDI environments.

What makes you stand out

• Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization (CCP-V), or equivalent credentials are highly desirable.

CLEARANCE

• Must have an active Secret clearance.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Compensation & Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (for remote opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
