Virtual ASL Interpreter for Secondary Education - Remote Position in Reno, NV

Join the VocoVision team! We are a leader in providing virtual special education services nationwide. We are seeking qualified Sign Language Interpreters to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in inclusive classroom settings.

Position Overview

This remote interpreter role allows you to make a significant impact on student learning from your home office. You will interpret for secondary students in general education classrooms, ensuring full access to curriculum and social interactions.

Typical Schedule & Caseload
  • 35-37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday
  • Supporting high school students in mainstream classes
  • Standard school-day hours (approx. 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
  • Potential after-hours interpreting opportunities
  • Mix of core academic classes and electives requiring interpretation
Core Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time ASL interpretation of classroom instruction and discussions
  • Interpret student questions and contributions for full participation
  • Support student access to extracurricular activities as needed
  • Maintain professional boundaries and build rapport with students
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure effective communication
  • Document services per IEP requirements
  • Participate in IEP meetings to provide communication insights
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3.5 EIPA score
  • Two years of school-based interpreting experience
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Strong understanding of academic vocabulary
  • Proficiency with virtual meeting platforms
  • Reliable high-speed internet
  • Professional home office setup with proper lighting
  • Ability to stay on camera for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4.0 EIPA score
  • Written EIPA
  • RID/NIC certification with written test
  • Experience in virtual environments
  • Familiarity with secondary education curriculum
