Job summary

ACCEL Schools' Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida seeks teachers for a rigorous, nurturing online classroom across core content areas and grade levels. You will deliver live lessons, complete course setup in the LMS, and monitor student progress while maintaining regular contact with families.

Travel for state testing and student events is required several times per year. The role requires a current Florida teaching license, knowledge of State Standards and Common Core, and strong written

Qualifications

• Current State teaching license in appropriate content area
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
• Preferred two years’ experience teaching
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
• Ability to manage confidential information
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to supervise students in all school settings
• Ability to pass federal and state background checks
• Experience in a multi-cultural setting (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Serve as the teacher of record and primary instructor in core content areas
• Meet goals related to student achievement and accountability
• Deliver live lessons via web conference based on student needs
• Complete course setup for each course in the LMS
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback/grades daily
• Maintain contact with each student and families
• Collaborate with Principal to prepare Progress Reports
• Review data to inform instructional adjustments
• Differentiate instruction for all students
• Use best practices in synchronous and asynchronous instruction
• Create a joyful, caring classroom environment
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices
• Implement school-wide culture expectations
• Communicate regularly with families about academics and social-emotional growth
• Incorporate 21st century technology in daily practice
• Plan and participate in non-instructional activities and field trips
• Collaborate respectfully with colleagues
• Travel to support face-to-face state testing annually
• Perform other duties as assigned

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida is a K–12 tuition-free online public school serving students statewide. We are seeking teachers who are excited to create a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. ACCEL Schools uses a cutting-edge 21st-century curriculum, which can be accessed online and through a variety of traditional methods.

Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.

• Serve as the teacher of record and primary instructor in all core content areas and grade levels
• Relentlessly work to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture as well as state specific academic accountability goals
• Deliver highly effective live lessons via web conference based on student need, rooted in research-based instructional practices
• Complete course set up for each course within the Learning Management System
• Monitor student progress in asynchronous courses and provide feedback/grade assignments daily
• Track andmaintaincontact with each student
• Collaborate with Principal to create and deliver Progress ReportsofStudents
• Review student level datafrequentlyto inform instructional program adjustments
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
• Utilize research-based best practices in both synchronous and asynchronous instruction

About You

• CurrentStateteaching license inappropriate contentarea

• High levelof comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
• High quality written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to stand for up to90 minutesat a time
• Ability to supervise students in all school settings
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred
