Job summary

A Research Lab Technician position is available at the Influenza Systems Biology Laboratory, University of Missouri (MU). The Wan Lab studies emerging infectious diseases including influenza and SARS-CoV-2, using integrated lab, clinical and computational approaches.

Responsibilities include assisting with animal experiments, routine lab management, surveillance efforts, necropsy, and performing serological and molecular assays after training.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of experience is required.
• Prior research experience in infectious diseases preferred.
• Experience with necropsy and animal handling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with animal experiments using various animal models.
• Assist with routine lab management tasks such as maintenance, inventory, and reagent preparation.
• Assist with influenza and other emerging infectious disease surveillance efforts.
• Perform necropsy on research animals following SOPs.
• Conduct assays (serology, ELISpot, RNA extraction, PCR/qRT-PCR) after training.
• Train students to achieve research goals.
