Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Infectious Diseases focused on viral transmission and vaccine science.

Work with a novel barcoded virus platform to study influenza and SARS-CoV-2 in animal models, informing next-generation countermeasures and public health strategies. You will join the Boon Lab within the Department of Medicine, collaborating across labs to advance virology, immunology, and bioinformatics.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal/doctoral degree.
• Hold a PhD in immunology, molecular biology, microbiology, or a similar field earned within the past three years.
• Have published one or more papers in peer-reviewed journals.
• Be able to independently guide research projects.
• Have a background in — or a genuine desire to learn — bioinformatics analysis techniques.
• Bring strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to mentor students and technicians.
• Have excellent speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with grant preparation and reporting.
• Prepare and submit papers on research.
• Assist in the design of research experiments.
• Evaluate research findings and assist in the reporting of the results.
• Maintain conformity with ethical standards in research.
• Maintain compliance with good laboratory practice and research records.
• Communicate with mentor about materials, reagents, and findings for publications.
