Job summary

Trout Unlimited seeks a Program Manager to lead the Virginia conservation program, expanding Priority Waters and coordinating with agencies and landowners. This role drives long‑term strategy, fundraising, and cross‑functional collaboration across TU teams.

Based remotely, preferably near a Virginia Priority Waters location, with frequent travel within the state. Requires extensive project oversight, budget stewardship, and relationship building with stakeholders and funders.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years coordinating or managing restoration projects or initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of fisheries, aquatic resource management or restoration design.
• Proven ability to develop multi-year program strategies and budgets.
• Experience building large partnership networks across agencies, NGOs, landowners, and funders.
• Track record securing major federal, state, or philanthropic funding.

Responsibilities

• Lead long-range planning and implementation for Priority Waters initiatives in Virginia.
• Develop and execute strategies for partnerships, funding, and program expansion.
• Coordinate watershed-scale plans integrating restoration, science, and outreach.
• Manage staff workloads and cross-functional collaboration.
• Oversee annual budget development for Virginia projects and programs.
• Represent TU in discussions with agencies, funders, and partners.
