Job description

Summary

An experienced alterations specialist responsible for producing high-quality alterations on Ready-To-Wear and Haute Couture garments for VIP clients at the 57th Street flagship. Ensures precise fitting and finishing using advanced sewing, tailoring, and flou techniques while maintaining confidentiality and exceptional client service. Works closely with VIP relations and boutique teams and supports the development of alterations talent through demonstrations and training.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed alterations and repairs on VIP garments, including hemming, mending, lengthening, and taking in or letting out seams.
• Fit garments on VIP clients to determine and execute appropriate alteration plans.
• Apply specialty techniques for delicate fabrics and constructions to preserve couture quality and allow reversible alterations when required.
• Use and maintain sewing machines, irons, and pressing equipment to meet production and quality standards.
• Communicate with local and global VIP relations teams to understand client specifications, needs, and preferences.
• Uphold production standards and deliver exceptional client service to preserve VIP relationships.
• Collaborate with the alterations team and boutique staff, and participate in training or co-animating sessions to develop regional talent.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of alterations experience in a luxury retail environment preferred.
• Mastery of sewing with strong expertise in tailoring and flou techniques; experience with leather, knits, double-face, beading, and fine tailoring.
• Sound knowledge of fabrications and specialty alteration techniques specific to high-end garments.
• Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and exceptional client service skills.
• Ability to work under time constraints with a flexible schedule including late nights, weekends, and some holidays.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team-focused environment.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lb and maintain equipment in proper working order.
