Job summary

Nucor is seeking professional CDL Class A drivers to join North America's largest steel producer. Drivers transport steel joists, coils, and related products, with an emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork.

The role requires 3 years interstate driving, a clean record, and ability to pass DOT and company testing. You’ll work varied day and night schedules and be home most evenings.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of verifiable commercial interstate driving experience.
• Current CDL Class A.
• Great driving and work record, no more than two (2) preventable accidents in the past two (2) years.
• No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years (or 2 serious violations in the past 3 years).
• Must pass all DOT and company written, driving, and drug screen tests.

Responsibilities

• Drivers safely transport steel joists, deck, coils, and other steel products to designated delivery points.
• Maintaining accurate logs and records to comply with local, state, federal, and DOT requirements; following company policies; inspecting and legally securing loads.
• Verifying accuracy against paperwork; and working effectively in a team environment.
• Drivers must be available for variable day and night schedules, often with little notice, and are home most evenings.
• Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; must demonstrate ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Three (3) years of verifiable commercial interstate driving experience
• Current CDL Class A
• Great driving and work record, no more than two (2) preventable accidents in the past two (2) years
• No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years (or 2 serious violations in the past 3 years)
• No violations for operating a CMV after being placed Out of Service (OOS)
• No prior drug or DUI convictions in a commercial vehicle in lifetime; no prior drug or DUI convictions in a private vehicle in the previous 10 years
• No prior positive or refusal DOT drug and/or alcohol tests
• Must pass all DOT and company written, driving, and drug screen tests
• Must meet all DOT physical and skills requirements
• CDL cannot be restricted to automatic transmission only

Preferred Qualifications:

• Flatbed, oversize, and permit load experience
