Job summary

Nucor Corporation in Indiana seeks a CDL A truck driver to join our Vulcraft Indiana division. You will transport steel joists, deck, coils, and other steel products to delivery points, maintaining logs and ensuring loads meet all safety and DOT requirements.

Excellent safety focus and ability to work in a team are essential. Home evenings are common with variable day and night schedules; prior flatbed/oversize experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of verifiable commercial interstate driving experience.
• Current CDL Class A license required.
• Clean driving record with limited preventable incidents in recent years.
• Ability to meet all DOT physicals, tests, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Transport steel joists, deck, coils, and related products to designated points.
• Maintain accurate logs and records for DOT/compliance.
• Inspect and secure loads according to policy and paperwork.
• Operate within a team environment and adhere to safety standards.

Location: St. Joe, IN, United States

Drivers safely transport steel joists, deck, coils, and other steel products to designated delivery points. Maintaining accurate logs and records to comply with local, state, federal, and DOT requirements; following company policies; inspecting and legally securing loads; verifying accuracy against paperwork; and working effectively in a team environment. Drivers must be available for variable day and night schedules, often with little notice, and are home most evenings.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three (3) years of verifiable commercial interstate driving experience
• Current CDL Class A
• Great driving and work record, no more than two (2) preventable accidents in the past two (2) years
• No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years (or 2 serious violations in the past 3 years)
• No violations for operating a CMV after being placed Out of Service (OOS)
• No prior drug or DUI convictions in a commercial vehicle in lifetime; no prior drug or DUI convictions in a private vehicle in the previous 10 years
• No prior positive or refusal DOT drug and/or alcohol tests
• Must pass all DOT and company written, driving, and drug screen tests
• Must meet all DOT physical and skills requirements
• CDL cannot be restricted to automatic transmission only

Preferred Qualifications

• Flatbed, oversize, and permit load experience
