Job description

The Village of Bloomingdale is seeking candidates for one (1) full-time Public Works Management Analyst position. This position is responsible for performing professional, analytical, and technical support functions to assist management with regulatory compliance and the planning, coordinating, and directing of day-to-day department operations. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Public Works.

The anticipated starting salary for this position is $79,809, dependent on qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is $79,809 – $111,737. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Serves as the Public Works health and safety coordinator; coordinates department safety activities and policies; develops and implements safety training and risk management program; ensures department compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Assists with administration of department human resources activities including recruitment, onboarding, and evaluations.
  • Coordinates CDL program, ELDT operations, and FMSCA compliance.
  • Coordinates facility inspections and compliance investigations.
  • Assists in the review and evaluation of various department programs and services; conducts research and analysis.
  • Coordinates and monitors contractual services including janitorial services, uniform rental, security, and material suppliers.
  • Assists with the planning, preparation, and implementation of annual budget and capital improvement plan; researches future projects, purchases, and funding; prepares grant applications and budget requests.
  • Organizes and coordinates department participation in a variety of special events and festivals.
  • Prepares and presents a variety of oral and written correspondence, reports, documents, and plans; uses various computer-based systems including Microsoft Office platform.
  • Maintains on-call availability to respond to operational or weather-related emergencies as needed.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, engineering, construction management, risk management, or a related field, with one to three years of progressively responsible public works and/or utilities operations experience preferred; or any other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform this position. A valid Illinois Driver’s License is required.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential to this role. Experience with public works operations, municipal operations, human resources, and/or risk management practices is preferred. This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office.
