BlackHawk Data LLC is seeking a Fortinet Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain Fortinet security solutions for enterprise clients. The role focuses on hands-on configuration of Fortinet devices, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security, with strong collaboration across internal teams and clients in the NYC metro area.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in network security, NSE 4 certification (NSE 5/6 preferred), and a BS/IT-related degree.

Summary

The ideal candidate is a seasoned network security professional with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in implementing and managing Fortinet solutions. They hold at least an NSE 4 certification, with NSE 5 or higher preferred, demonstrating their expertise in configuring firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security.

This individual excels in problem-solving, communication, and client support, ensuring optimal security system performance while adhering to industry best practices. They are proactive, detail-oriented, and skilled in both independent tasks and collaborative team environments. You must reside in NYC to qualify for position.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Implementation:Develop and implement Fortinet security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security systems, tailored to meet client requirements.
• Configuration and Maintenance:Configure and maintain Fortinet devices and services, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
• Security Monitoring and Incident Response:Monitor security systems, identify potential threats, and respond to security incidents promptly and effectively.
• Client Support and Troubleshooting:Provide technical support to clients, resolving issues related to Fortinet products and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
• Documentation and Reporting:Maintain comprehensive documentation of security configurations, changes, and incidents. Generate reports on security metrics and incident responses.
• Training and Knowledge Sharing:Conduct training sessions for clients and internal teams on Fortinet products and best practices in network security.
• Compliance and Best Practices:Ensure all solutions comply with industry standards and best practices. Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and Fortinet product updates.

Qualifications

• Certification:Fortinet NSE 4 (minimum). NSE 5, NSE 6, or higher certifications are highly desirable.
• Experience:Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in network security and Fortinet product implementation and management.
• Technical Skills:Proficiency in configuring and managing Fortinet firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and related technologies.
• Problem-Solving:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex security issues.
• Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Team Player:Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and with clients.
• Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred)

Work Environment & Location

• Onsite role based in the NYC metro area (Manhattan, East Hanover, and client sites as needed)
• Combination of on-site client work and remote flexibility
• May require occasional evening or weekend work based on project needs
