Job summary

The Mission Essential Group, LLC seeks a Vietnamese Linguist to support the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services I (HHS I) program, delivering accurate interpretation and translation at ILR Level 2+ for unaccompanied minors and related care staff.

Responsibilities include on-site interpretation at ORR sites, remote interpretation when needed, and clear communication to bridge language and cultural gaps.

Qualifications

• ILR Level 2+ proficiency in English and Vietnamese, listening, speaking, reading and writing.
• Ability to apply advanced language skills with cultural awareness.
• Strong discretion and professional judgment in sensitive settings.
• Experience with interpretation/translation in diverse care environments.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage language services for ORR programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person onsite interpretation at ORR programs and service locations.
• Deliver remote interpretation via telephone, videoconference, or other means, including 24/7 support.
• Facilitate communication between Care Staff, UC/UAM/URM in their preferred language.
• Assist UC/UAM/URM in expressing concerns or needs in English or Vietnamese.
• Translate documents English↔Vietnamese as required.
• Support orientation of UC/UAM/URM to available community resources.
• Help build rapport and understand cultural context of the populations served.
