Job summary

The Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County is seeking qualified local Vietnamese Interpreters to join our approved roster. You will provide accurate spoken interpretation for limited-English-proficient individuals across court hearings, probation interviews, and detention facility events.

Responsibilities include delivering precise interpretation in consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translations, handling hearings and interviews, and conducting remote video or telephonic interpretations

Qualifications

• Must be located in or near Maricopa County, AZ.
• Exceptional oral proficiency in English and Vietnamese.
• Registered in the Arizona Court Interpreter Registry / ACICP credentialed.
• Strong working knowledge of legal terminology and judicial proceedings.
• Must pass a mandatory Court background check and fingerprint process (renewed every 3 years).
• Standards: comply with professional courtroom dress codes and ethical standards.

Vietnamese Interpreter

The Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County is seeking qualified local Vietnamese Interpreters to join our approved roster. You will provide accurate spoken interpretation for limited-English-proficient individuals across court hearings, probation interviews, and detention facility events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver precise consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation between Vietnamese and English.
• Facilitate clear communication during hearings, trials, attorney-client interviews, probation meetings, and jail assignments.
• Conduct remote video or telephonic interpretation when requested.
• Maintain strict neutrality, confidentiality, and adherence to the Arizona Court Interpreter Code of Conduct.
• Assess at all times their ability to deliver their services. When interpreters have any reservation about their ability to satisfy an assignment competently, they shall immediately convey that reservation to the appropriate Court authority.
• Be groomed and dress in appropriate business attire, whether in-person or virtual.

Work Schedule:

• Arrive at least ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled assignment for in-person events and virtual/remote events, unless instructed otherwise by CITS.
• Remote Video Interpreting: The Court may request a remote video interpretation event when the location of the event does not warrant the use of an in-person interpreter. The request will be scheduled in the same manner as all other interpreter requests.
• Telephonic On-Demand Interpreting: The Court may utilize On-Demand telephonic interpreting to provide attorneys, judges, and court staff with access to a phone bank of interpreters that provide multiple languages on-demand.
• Telephonic scheduled interpreting: The Court may request a telephonic scheduled interpreting event when an in-person or remote video interpreter is unavailable. The request will be scheduled in the same manner as all other interpreter requests.

Qualifications:

• Location: Must be physically located in or near Maricopa County, AZ for prompt on-site availability.
• Linguistic Skill: Exceptional oral proficiency in both English and Vietnamese.
• Registry: Registered in the Arizona Court Interpreter Registry / ACICP credentialed.
• Legal Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of legal terminology and judicial proceedings.
• Screening: Must pass a mandatory Court background check and fingerprint process (renewed every 3 years).
• Standards: Full compliance with professional courtroom dress codes and ethical standards.
