Job description

Summary

Under general supervision, the Perioperative Videoscopic Coordinator is responsible for the overall functioning, safety, technical assistance and maintenance of all Laparoscopic/videoscopic/endoscopic equipment and instruments in Surgical Services.

Works in partnership with physicians and other staff members; proactively provides for the customer’s needs using the customer service standards as identified by Mercy Medical Center mission and vision commitment.

The Videoscopic Coordinator applies the principles of growth and development when assessing and interpreting patient information, and planning and implementing individualized care based on the age-related needs of the adolescent, adult, geriatric patient and their families.

Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. • Other Requirements: Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Exhibit flexibility and creativity. Exhibit analytical ability in identifying problems and planning solutions. Ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines. Flexibility to work occasionally outside of normal work hours and take on projects at short notice. Meditech Outlook, ABACUS, PICIS, Medivators, STERIS and STERRAD machines and autoclave


Requirements

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Education and Work Experience:
    • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
    • BS in Technology Field strongly preferred.
    • Two (2) years O.R. experience
    • Biomedical Engineering experience preferred
    • Must possess the knowledge, skill, physical ability and mental capacity to perform the typical duties and responsibilities enumerated above or implicit therein.
    • Biomed experience and laparoscopic/videoscopic/endoscopic maintenance experience preferred.
