Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking a creative content/video production assistant for CASL to elevate our digital presence. This ~10-hours/week hybrid role involves filming, editing in CASL media studios, and building a professional portfolio.

You will work with CASL staff to produce videos for campus events, courses, and social media while staying current with higher-ed trends and digital storytelling.

Qualifications

• UM-Dearborn student majoring in Journalism and Media Production, Communications, or Marketing.
• Passionate about visual storytelling and Gen Z trends.
• Skilled in photo/video editing, digital platforms, and behind the camera.
• Experience in media production courses or in the field of audio/video production.
• Knowledge of video and audio production workflows.
• Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro or other video editing software.
• Proficiency with Zoom audio recorders.
• Proficiency with DSLR or mirrorless camera operation.

Responsibilities

• Capture and create content at CASL events, in courses, for programs, and around campus.
• Film, edit, and produce short videos and reels for our website and social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Serve as a production assistant to CASL Instructional Media Specialist, Rick Morrone—involved in camera operation, audio recording, editing, for content featuring college programs, events, research, and initiatives.
• Collaborate with the CASL Digital Marketing & Content Specialist to discuss content needs and project assignments.
• Research trends in higher ed social media and Gen Z engagement, adapt viral formats for CASL messaging.
• Benchmark content and video strategies from peer institutions and propose new ideas.
