Job summary

Simon & Schuster is seeking a Video Production Coordinator to help produce engaging video content that connects readers with books and authors across our corporate marketing channels. Reporting to the Executive Director, Video Production, this role supports every stage of the production process—from pre-production planning and on-set production to post-production and content delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1-2 years of experience in video production, digital media, or content creation.
• Experience operating DSLR, mirrorless, or cinema cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced creative environment.
• Familiarity with YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging video platforms.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for productions and events.
• A passion for storytelling, creativity, and books

Responsibilities

• Assisting with pre-production planning, including production schedules, call sheets, equipment preparation, and shoot logistics.
• Coordinating studio and location shoots, ensuring productions run smoothly and efficiently.
• Preparing cameras, lighting, audio, and production equipment for filming.
• Troubleshoot minor technical issues during production.
• Ensure equipment is production-ready for upcoming shoots.
• Supporting the production team during author interviews, marketing shoots, live events, and other productions.
• Assisting talent, crew, and internal partners throughout production days.
• Assisting with the production of short-form and long-form video content.
• Operating cameras, lighting, and audio equipment under the guidance of the production team.
• Capturing behind-the-scenes content and additional footage as needed.
• Collaborating with Corporate Marketing teams to support integrated campaigns across social media, website, email, and events.
• Organize and maintain production footage and project files.
• Assist with video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and other editing software.
• Prepare video assets for distribution across social media, YouTube, websites, presentations, and additional marketing channels.
• Maintain organized project archives and production documentation.

Production Support

You'll play an active role in bringing Simon & Schuster's video productions to life. A well-run production starts with well-maintained equipment and organized workflows. This includes:

• Assisting with pre-production planning, including production schedules, call sheets, equipment preparation, and shoot logistics.
• Coordinating studio and location shoots, ensuring productions run smoothly and efficiently.
• Preparing cameras, lighting, audio, and production equipment for filming.

As a member of the Video Production team, you'll contribute to creating compelling content for readers across multiple platforms. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the production of short-form and long-form video content.
• Operating cameras, lighting, and audio equipment under the guidance of the production team.
• Capturing behind-the-scenes content and additional footage as needed.
• Collaborating with Corporate Marketing teams to support integrated campaigns across social media, website, email, and events.

Post-Production & Content Delivery

You'll help ensure projects move efficiently from production through final delivery. You'll:

• Organize and maintain production footage and project files.
• Assist with video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and other editing software.
• Prepare video assets for distribution across social media, YouTube, websites, presentations, and additional marketing channels.
• Maintain organized project archives and production documentation.
