Job summary

Ohana is seeking a video editor to craft fast-paced street interview content for Instagram Reels and TikTok. You will review raw footage, identify hooks and key moments, and create 30–90 second edits with captions, graphics, and timing edits to maximize retention and shareability.

Ideally, you understand internet culture, pacing, and memes, and can work independently from raw footage to final cut across multiple pages like Girls Who Sublet and Ohana NYC.

Qualifications

• Familiar with CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

• Edit short-form street interview content for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
• Review raw footage to identify hooks and best moments.
• Turn long-form/interviews into 30-90 second highly watchable videos.
• Add captions, motion graphics, sound design, transitions and memes where appropriate.
• Deliver multiple edits per week with quick turnaround times.

About the role

Ohana is building the largest network for subletting and roommate discovery across cities and universities. We run fast-growing social pages like Girls Who Sublet, Ohana NYC, and university-specific housing communities that help people find housing through content that actually feels native to social media.

We're looking for a video editor who understands internet culture, pacing, hooks, retention, and short-form storytelling, especially in street interview formats.

What We're Looking For

• Strong understanding of TikTok/Reels pacing and retention editing
• Experience editing street interviews, vox pops, or creator-style social content
• Ability to identify strong hooks within the first 1-3 seconds
• Strong instinct for what performs on social
• Comfortable adding captions, graphics, sound design, transitions, and memes tastefully
• Fast editor with strong attention to pacing and timing
• Familiarity with CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar tools
• Ability to work independently from raw footage to final cut

Bonus Points

• Experience growing or editing for meme/theme pages
• Experience with NYC or college-focused social content
• Understanding of Gen Z humor and internet culture
• Motion graphics experience
