Longwell Partners is a full-service, pro-democracy communications firm based in Washington, DC. We specialize in high-profile political projects, including Home of the Brave, The Bulwark, and Republican Voters Against Trump.
About the role
As our newest video hire, you will own our podcast production workflow end to end and contribute as a full member of our broader video team. The core of the job is podcast editing, but this is not a narrow role. You will bring creative ideas, political instincts, and storytelling judgment to everything you touch.
If you are a fast, sharp editor who follows politics closely, thinks in narratives, and wants your work to matter in the real world, this role is for you.
Your responsibilities
- Own end-to-end podcast production, including editing full-length episodes for YouTube with multi-cam setups, graphics, and audio cleanup.
- Cut and optimize short-form clips and verticals from podcast content for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and other platforms, with editorial judgment about what to clip, how to frame it, and where it belongs.
- Contribute to episode structure, pacing, and production logistics as needed to keep the workflow running smoothly.
- Take raw, unscripted footage from interviews or shoots, find the story in it, and assemble a coherent first cut without needing a roadmap.
- Collaborate with the video team to develop and produce creative content across LPI projects, including political ads and short-form narratives optimized for web, TV, and social.
- Participate in in-person production shoots, including filming, lighting, and camera operation.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of professional video editing or production experience.
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop.
- Proven experience editing podcasts for video, including multi-cam setups and podcast-specific workflows.
- Strong editorial and political instincts. You know what content matters, where it belongs, and how to make it land.
- Genuine interest in politics and current events.
- Familiarity with vertical video formats and a real sense of how content performs across platforms today.
- Comfort in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role may require availability outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as the news cycle and production schedule demand.
- Ability to be in our downtown DC office five days a week. This is not a remote or hybrid role.
Preferred qualifications
- Comfort using AI tools to speed up and sharpen production workflows.
- Background in political campaigns, advocacy, journalism, or media.
- Base salary range: $60,000 – $95,000
- 100% covered medical insurance
- 401(k) matching program
- Metro-accessible, downtown DC location
- Opportunities to learn, grow, and do work that reaches large audiences and actually matters
