Longwell Partners is seeking a Political Researcher to support rapid, data-driven content across high-profile political projects. You will track actors, surface news and public records, and help our team move quickly and accurately under tight deadlines.

The ideal candidate has up to two years in political research or related fields, strong writing, and familiarity with modern political media. This is an in-office role in downtown DC, offering competitive salary and benefits.

We specialize in high-profile political projects—including The Bulwark , Home of the Brave , and Republican Voters Against Trump —and we’re looking for a Political Researcher to support our work as we expand our research capacity and prepare for the 2026 midterms.

About the Role

As a Political Researcher at Longwell Partners, you’ll support a range of research and content needs across the firm. That means tracking political actors and developments, surfacing relevant news and public records, and helping get content and research out the door quickly and accurately.

This is a role for someone who is as comfortable digging for information as they are helping a team move fast on a deadline. You’ll work across multiple projects and priorities, plugging in where the work is. You follow the news closely, you know when something doesn’t add up, and you recognize when what you’ve found is something our communications team needs to hear about.

Your Responsibilities

• Support content production by helping source clips, past statements, published reporting, and other materials that fuel our creative and communications work, including video, podcast, and social content.
• Monitor political news and relevant developments in real time to identify emerging stories, rapid-response opportunities, and new angles for ongoing work.
• Conduct research into political actors, organizations, donors, and policy issues to inform strategy and communications across projects.
• Analyze public records and government data to surface relevant facts and relationships.
• Assist with research supporting legal and advocacy work.
• Produce clear, well-sourced research memos and summaries that colleagues can act on quickly.

What We’re Looking For

• 0-2 years of experience in political research, journalism, campaigns, advocacy, or a closely related field, or someone who can show strong research work in a relevant setting.
• You follow the news obsessively and have sharp political instincts; you know the players, the networks, and how things connect.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and a genuine sense of how political media works today.
• Strong writing skills and attention to detail; you can take something complicated and explain it simply and accurately, and you’re comfortable producing clean first drafts under deadline.
• Comfortable working across different types of projects and pitching in where needed.
• Ability to be in the office (downtown DC) five days a week. This is not a remote or hybrid opportunity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Comfort using AI tools to make research faster and more thorough.
• Background in political campaigns, investigative journalism, communications, or media.
