Job summary

McClatchy is seeking a Video Editor to shape digital storytelling in a fast-paced, AI-enabled newsroom. You’ll edit varied content for editorial, social, and branded use, create platform-specific versions, and apply graphics and motion templates while meeting high editorial and technical standards.

The role emphasizes collaboration with producers and editors, leveraging AI tools to increase efficiency and output quality, and delivering compelling stories across TikTok, YouTube, and longer

We’re looking for a creative, can-do professional who thrives on collaboration and experimentation—someone who’s as comfortable editing for TikTok and YouTube as they are crafting long-form features. You’ll leverage the latest AI and automation tools to streamline your workflow, freeing you to focus on what matters most: creating compelling, high-impact video content that informs, entertains, and inspires diverse audiences.

In this role, you’ll edit original, editorial, social, branded, and companion video content from raw footage through final delivery. You’ll build platform-specific versions and cutdowns, incorporate graphics and motion templates, and ensure every project meets the highest editorial and technical standards. Your work will be guided by audience insights, data signals, and a relentless drive for quality and innovation.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is between 75k - 85k annually. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, department equity, training, geography, and local wage and hours laws.
