Position Summary

The Video Editor turns raw footage and creative direction into polished long-form and short-form video assets for Westfield Outdoors’ brands and channels. This role creates effective edits, captions, subtitles, thumbnails, motion graphics, and channel- or retailer-specific versions while maintaining quality, consistency, and delivery standards.

Working within Creative Services and reporting to the Lead Video Producer, the Video Editor collaborates with video, photography, design, copy, marketing, ecommerce, and product partners to organize footage, manage revisions, and deliver accurate, engaging content on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Select strong takes and B-roll; edit interviews; and refine pacing, music, voice-over, graphics, and audio to support the story.
  • Create captions and subtitles, thumbnails, titles, and simple motion graphics; use .mogrt files and create or modify simple text and shape animations.
  • Apply basic color correction and audio cleanup, then prepare polished final edits to the required aspect ratio, resolution, codec, and delivery specification.
  • Produce ecommerce product videos, website video assets, social content, and retailer- or customer-specific versions.
  • Adapt edits for channel requirements, including aspect ratio, duration, captions, graphics, messaging, and calls to action.
  • Coordinate with ecommerce, product, marketing, and sales partners to verify product features, claims, naming, and customer requirements before release.
  • Create practical cutdowns, templates, and reusable elements that improve speed and consistency across recurring content needs.
Asset Management & Delivery
  • Organize project files, source footage, graphics, audio, project versions, and final exports using established conventions.
  • Maintain version control and accurate file labeling throughout review and approval cycles.
  • Prepare and deliver final assets in required formats and on schedule, communicating risks or missing inputs early.
  • Archive completed projects and reusable assets so they remain accessible to the creative team.
  • Partner with the Lead Video Producer and creative stakeholders to interpret briefs, storyboards, scripts, and feedback.
  • Coordinate with copywriters, designers, photographers, and marketers to integrate approved messaging and visual elements.
  • Review work for accuracy, continuity, brand consistency, technical quality, rights considerations, and delivery specifications.
  • Use review, audience, and performance feedback to improve storytelling, workflow efficiency, and future content variations.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Video Production, Film, Media, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
  • 3–5 years of professional video editing or post-production experience; consumer-product or branded-content experience preferred.

  • Strong command of professional non-linear editing software; Adobe Premiere Pro experience and working knowledge of .mogrt templates are preferred.
  • Working knowledge of audio cleanup, basic color correction, captions and subtitles, codecs, aspect ratios, and delivery specifications.
  • Ability to create simple motion graphics, titles, thumbnails, text and shape animations, and multiple channel versions.
  • Excellent file organization, version control, attention to detail, and deadline management.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills during creative review and revision cycles.
